Here’s a recipe for making cinnamon bread:
Ingredients:
- 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 and 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk, water, and melted butter until warm (about 110°F/43°C), stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
- Add the warm milk mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients. Stir until well combined.
- Add the remaining 3/4 cup of flour, one spoonful at a time, until the dough forms a soft ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon and brown sugar for the filling.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle shape on a floured surface.
- Spread the softened butter evenly over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the butter.
- Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
- Place the rolled dough into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it rises just above the rim of the pan.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the cinnamon bread in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. You can check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the loaf; if it comes out clean, the bread is ready.
- Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
- Once the bread has cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top of the bread.
- Slice and serve the cinnamon bread, and enjoy!
Note: You can customize your cinnamon bread by adding chopped nuts or raisins to the filling if desired.
