1 C. cCrea sour
1/2 tsp. softened butter
2 eggs
1-3 / 4 (3 or 4) ripe bananas, mashed
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 c. all purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp. chopped nuts (optional)
Brown butter frosting:
1/2 tsp. Butter
4 c. Granulated sugar
1-1 / 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
3 tablespoons milk
Addresses:
Heat the oven to 375F. Grease and flour a 15 × 10 jelly tray. For the bars, in a large bowl, combine the sugar, sour cream, butter and eggs until creamy. Mix the bananas and the vanilla extract. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and mix for 1 minute. Add the nuts.
Spread the dough evenly in the mold. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden.
Meanwhile, for frosting, heat the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat until boiling. Let the butter brown gently and remove from the heat immediately.
Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract and milk. Whisk until smooth (should be thicker than the frosting but thinner than the frosting). Using a spatula, spread the brown butter frosting over the hot bars (the frosting will be easier to spread when the bars are still hot).
